key broken in lock. who pays locksmith, landlord or me?

  • Thank you for all your help and advice.
    We decided to wait until I had finished work and see if I could get in from the other side before calling out a locksmith - and I could. Horay!
    The bit that snapped off his key is very small luckily and my key works fine.
    I'll remind the landlord that we would like him to check the lock - as I asked twice and he never did - incase it is the fault of the lock rather than the key and we don't want it to happen again.

    If you remove the lock as per the video, the snapped off bit may push straight through with a paper clip with some jiggling with the key in the other side turning the cam.
    Be happy...;)
  • sometimes spam is a good thing :D

    the above post has bumped up this thread and I know know how to change the lock on my door which has been dodgy for a while. I was putting if off as I thought it would be complicated/expensive.
