IVA & Living abroad

Are you allowed to move abroad if on an IVA & what are the rules if you can? Thanks.:)

    Hello there.


    It is possible. The criteria we use is as follows:
    • The debts were accrued in the UK;
    • You must have a UK bank account; and
    • You must have a UK contact address. This means that you must have somewhere in the UK that the Insolvency Practitioner can send correspondence to. It could be that you give authority for someone else to act on your behalf.
    So if you're under an IVA and then move it should be OK so long as you can meet the last two rules. For the record, you may find that other insolvency practitioners have other policies.
