New debit card issued, could cause problems ?

hi
Ive just been issued a new debit card from my bank, it has the same long number but different expiry date and security code. The thing im wondering is about the fact that I have a few hotels and a train journey prebooked under the old card, will this be a problem at check in, or will it be recognised as the same card ?
thanks for any help !

train journeys could be an issue, hotels should be fine as these are just holding transactions, is your old card still valid/ in your possession?0

yes i still have the old one, i think its best not to activate the new one until i come back from holiday0

keep it with you in case the other one stops working.0

How is carrying around an expired debit card going to help in the slightest if the new one stops working?
As to the train/hotel bookings. If you're picking up the train ticket from the station then I'm not sure if the machine will recognise the new card. You'd need to call whoever you booked it from to double check (and if I were you, I'd try and pick them up before you need to use them - if it doesn't work for whatever reason you'll have to buy new ones at the full price). Hotel check-in should be completely fine as you'd be dealing with a person not a machine, and so even if there is a problem you can just explain it and verify your identity with them.0 -
Why would it cause problems with train tickets when the card number is 100% the same, and the expiry date is even longer in the future than it was previously?0

You just need to do is notify the train company you have a new card.
This happened to me a few weeks ago and they sorted it out.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

It think it was being suggested that if the OP continues to use the old card then they should also carry the new card in case the OLD card stops working.
Who says that the old one has expired? In my experience there is often about a month overlap between the start of a replacement card and the expiry of the existing one.0 -
