Lodgers - What are your thoughts?

  • She also uses the washing machine around 3-4 times a week, washing about 2-4 items at a time.

Ah yes, the washing machine...always a good source of irritation!

Had to explain to one lodger (on several occasions)

1)Do not fill the washing machine to the top. It won't wash properly, it's too heavy and will f**k up the machine.

    2) Check the settings before pressing start. If you check after it's started and notice you've set it to a dry cycle and not a wash cycle, don't move any of the dials or switch it off and on or you'll f**k up the machine.

    3) Do not use the 2 hour wash cycle unless you've got a job on an oil rig. Just use the normal one for ordibary clothes.

Ok, I didn't actually say out load "you'll f**k up the machine" but I did think it. ;)

We felt sorry for a lady work colleague after giving us a hardluck story where she was living. We said we have a room available and charged a small rent.
What a big bl....dy mistake we made. Once installed she used the washing machine for one towel. She became very secretative and had one night stands arriving at all hours.

We spoke to her about this unacceptable behaviour in our house and her attitude was she paid us rent and could do what she wanted.

Fortunately we have sold the house and moved away but would think very carefully about taking in lodgers again.

    Not for the faint hearted!
