Blomberg Washer

No idea if anyone will be able to help me but hoping there'll be someone around who knows more about this sort of thing than I do - although to be honest my hens know more about this sort of thing than I do!
We have a Blomberg washer that's 7 years old. Recently, it stopped spinning when it came to the end of it's cycle. However, if I set it to spin only, it would spin. Now it's stopped spinning altogether! But still goes through the wash cycle as normal.
Any idea what could be wrong with it?
Any idea if it's worth trying to get it fixed?
If so, any idea roughly how much it's going to cost me?
Or would you suggest scrapping it and buying a new one?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Cate,
Check the carbons in the motor as they do go on those machines pretty regularly. They are available and not that expensive TBH so if that's all it is then I'd take a punt on it.
This should be the carbons
And this is all about them

It could be a blocked up 'pressure bell' inside the machine. It doesn't spin as it is incorrectly sensing that water is still in the drum and waiting for it to drain. This was the problem on my parents' machine, I found this webpage about it :

It is fairly easy to clean. Take the back off the machine, at the bottom rear of the drum tank locate and pull out the white plastic tubular 'bottle' (about 4 inches long) along with the black rubber grommet , then detach narrow black tube and clean out the gunge in the sink.
Make sure it is fitted back correctly so it doesn't leak.0 -
Thanks so much for your help. Having read the thread you directed me to, TimBuckTeeth, it does sound like that might be the problem so i'll give that a go first. Not to mention, it sounds much easier than changing the brushes and I'm such a girl when it comes to these things!!!!
However, if that doesn't sort it then I'll check out the brushes.
Thanks again. Could really do without having to buy a new washer at the moment!0
