Sealing Boiler Gap in Wall

Hi,
Bit of a newbie when it comes to DIY so wanted to ask for advice. Just had a boiler service done and the engineer said the gap around the outlet vent from the boiler is not completely sealed when the boiler was first installed. Therefore there could be a risk of the outlet gas being blown back into the house (or inside the cavity wall). He suggested I seal it.
Now, I thought maybe it was a easy job to just to fill in the gap with some board and sealant but now I read around that these boilers should have come with a rubber ring that can put around the outlet pipe. Is that the case? If so where can I find one? My boiler is a Esprit type model.
Appreciate any help.

We have this in our Housing Association house and when we moved in and had our gas meter changed the engineer said it was hazardous and we needed a boiler engineer to come and sort it out as a matter of urgency.
When one turned up and took a look he shook his head and basically said the British Gas engineer didn't have a clue what he was talking about and left telling us not to worry!!!
No-one has filled the hole in to date and we are all still alive.0 -
Just had ours done with sand/cement but its in a garage if its in a room leave a gap of a few mm and add some plaster accept outside of course just use sand/cement0
