Rail Ticket Prices?
Does anyone know if the pricing of advance tickets has changed recently. There seem to be far fewer available than when the same journey was booked back in March (the day before travel). Also using the National Rail website on a journey for tomorrow I am not getting any discount with a young persons railcard, looking at the cheapest fares available all the tickets are the same as the fare without a railcard.
I have been to the station to book the tickets only to find I cannot book the cheap fare on the train I want coming back as it is not available, so have to go on the next availalble train, which is a little more expensive. But on checking the website when I got home I find the cheap fare is still available, why is this? I telephoned the train booking line and the cheap fare is available there also!!! This would not have been an option though as the station I use does not have automatic ticketing. Why all this discrepency with pricing?

If you are looking at APEX tickets, you have never been able to use your Railcard against these tickets. It is in the Ts & Cs.
I do agree that there seem to be a lot less "bargain" fares about now than there used to be.
PS: It may be worth you trying the rail companies own websites; GWR, for example, have a separate site with cheap fares that don't appear on the National Rail site, don't ask me why.0
