Hi I have just received my sons birthday pressie.
A JVC D-RG390 camcorder.
It comes with a 32mb card, sounds very small to me:confused:
before I give it to him, should I get him a larger card? I have a larger card in my camera, I cant see a 32mb lasting longer than 10 secs!! in a camcorder.
Or am I missing something?

Thanks
Annie

I don't think that the SD card is for video. Probably for stills.

I have a digital camera that has movie on it, and I got an sd card for that and it works fine, actually mine came with a 32mb one also, useless.

Since the stills can only be VGA size 640 x 480 pixels, he'll be able to get somewhere between 180 and 450 pictures on the card.
Better off buying a spare DV tape.
  • go to www.mymemory.co.uk or www.7dayshop.com for great prices on SD cards.

Before you buy a super fast SD card make sure that it's compatible with the camera. I like Sandisk cards and would check amazon's prices on them too as they can sometimes be the cheapest.
    Happy Birthday to your son.

I'd try and keep away from Ebay when buying memory cards, unless its from a very reputable dealer. There are a lot of cheap fake "Sandisk Ultras" out there, that are built from substandard components and claim to have a higher capacity than they really do. I'd stick to a large reputable dealer like Amazon or Pixmania...
