  • Couple more £2 coins to add to the pot from that past few days.

ive also added my share of the holiday money as well, just waiting for my brothers share... it'll be a brisk day is hell before he pays what he owes on time!!
    House Deposit ≈£10,600.00 (25/03/14)
    Regular Savings - £750.00 (25/03/14)

  • Some sad news today, we found out this morning that a colleague of ours died on friday afternoon, in a car crash. such a shame she was such a lovely girl, and only 29!

kind of puts things into perspective really.

so a rather sobre update now...

House deposit payment came out 25/01 so thats now £10,360

I think i got some interest or something on my e-savings plus account so as of 22/01 that stands at £800.34... which is really annoying! i'm gonna need to round that up!

    £2 savings is now £30

My brother paid his January half of our holiday present money (finally!) so thats now at £40. he said he'll be setting up a standing order shortly so that sorts that out.

Andy my Car finance came out yesturday so that should now stands at £4217.43

Aiming to get about £300 into my e-savings plus this month.
    House Deposit ≈£10,600.00 (25/03/14)
    Regular Savings - £750.00 (25/03/14)
    e-Savings Plus - £910.34 (25/03/14)
    £2 Savings - £100 (25/03/14)
    Holiday - £100.00 (25/03/14)

    Car HP - £4016.60 (16/03/14)
  • I forgot to add, i opened a regular savings account with Nationwide today.

this one gives me a variable interest dependant on how much my balance rises each month... so if i deposit £500+ i get 2% net and if i deposit less than £500 i get less that 2% for that month... which hopfully will encourage me to save more!

now i just have to figure out how to add this to my signature!!!
    House Deposit ≈£10,600.00 (25/03/14)
    Regular Savings - £750.00 (25/03/14)
    e-Savings Plus - £910.34 (25/03/14)
    £2 Savings - £100 (25/03/14)
    Holiday - £100.00 (25/03/14)

    Car HP - £4016.60 (16/03/14)
  • So this pay day, i managed to save 300 quid, all of which went in my regular savers... then topped it up from my e-savings plus account so that i deposited £500 so i get the higher interest rate. so E-savings plus now stands at £600.34.

in total they now stand at £1100 :D

added another £2 coin, and merged it with my cash savings so that now stands at £47.

I threw another 20 at my mum and dads holiday fund so thats now £60.

The usual £120 on the house deposit so thats £10,480

And i think thats about it.
    House Deposit ≈£10,600.00 (25/03/14)
    Regular Savings - £750.00 (25/03/14)

    so another month another payday
as of tomorrow (when all my standing orders shift around)

    House deposit +£120 = £10,600
    Regular Saving +£250 = £750.00
    E-savings +£310 = 910.34
    £2 savings +£8 = £55
Holiday + £20 = £80 (brother now owes febs are marches!
    Car -£200.83 = £4016.60

I realise i probably change my mind every month, but my current fancy is to use my e-savings plus as an annual expenses type account, i.e. car insurance/tax etc, and holidays. and keep that filled that up to about £1500 ish. (almost like a credit card type affair.) when i need to spend from it, the next months savings (minus £200, see below) goes to "pay off" my "CC"

make sure i put at least £200 a month into my regular savers to make sure i get 1.48% interest. and don't withdraw from this unless a life or death emergency!

this way i can have a holiday and not stress about having to book it on CC and paying it off later... i don't have to scramble to find 700 odd quid for insurance or service costs.

The 1.48% IR doesnt sound particularly great. Im sure there are better options out there for you. Im getting 6% through the first direct regular saver.
