Quick question about cancelling a transaction

Hi
I bought an item of ebay ( I had messages the seller before to make sure it was as advertised). Seller confirmed this.

Anyway after I had bought it the seller realised that it was not what they had advertised. I asked for a refund. After several messages with the seller telling me I still have got a bargain he has finally agreed to refund me.

He has sent a request to cancel the item. Am I right in thinking that he needs to refund me before I agree to the cancellation? Or will me agreeing to the cancellation mean I get the refund?

Cancelling doesn't affect a refund, but it does tell you not to cancel until you have the refund. Drop him a message saying that if he refunds you will cancel, in that order.

If he doesn't act, don't delay, deny the cancellation as otherwise it will time out after 7 days and he will get his fees refunded.

It may help re-educate him for future sales.

Thank you, he want me to agree before he refunds me but I have said I will agree only once refunded.
  • To be honest it matters not as the buyer, you will still get a refund, but the wording of the cancellation does actually tell the buyer not to accept UNTIL they have the refund. Perhaps let him know this, and tell him you will accept as soon as he refund, or you will decline. He only gets one shot at the cancellation so he should do as you ask if you feel uneasy.

I have sent a message and explained this. I doubt this will be the end but I will have to wait and see. Thank you for your help.
  • If you don't want to cancel then you will need to decline it within the 7 days, otherwise it will self cancel as it times out.

I have been refunded so have agreed to the cancellation. Thank you for your help. Have a good night.
  • And you. Your cancellation still allows you to leave feedback. It just means the seller has his fees back.
