Hi, can anyone recommend a good solicitor if you are facing redundancy which you think is unfair dismissal?
Basically company has taken on staff up to one month ago and now their are redundancies within the department. These newbies aren't in the pool (its the same dept).

Pools don't have to be based on departments. Have you asked why the pool is as it is?0

Over staffing in that area. However each person could equally have done one of the other jobs.MFW 2013 #146 Target £6000

But each person isn't doing that job. They are doing the job they have. And it is the job you have that is at risk, not one that you could have "equally done". Sorry, but I am not seeing your argument holding any water,0

If a company knows about redundancies as I understand it they should first try to find suitable employment rather than redundancies. Should the job not have first have been offered to one of these in the pool as they are qualified to do the job or is it OK to employ a temp worker by making them permanent? This really is why I would like to discuss with a good solicitor if you know one. ThanksMFW 2013 #146 Target £6000

That's really sneaky to take on new staff with few employment rights then shortly after make the long termers redundant. Is that what happened?0

Its about too
At risk letters have been sent to the pool (not me) but we have a similar situation with a temp being made permanent.....
I just want to get my facts straight on what's OK to do.MFW 2013 #146 Target £6000

Employers often want to get rid of crap workers.
If this is the case it is sensible to have "replacements" already lined up.
Obviously this should "not be handled via redundancy"
Not that I am suggesting this is behind any of the OPs situation.0
