  • Hey :-)
The lady for the cake toppers is sparkle-celebrations on eBay. She is amazing and has just made me 100 snowflakes which are perfect :-)
We're looking at playacar and then gonna book the trips into cancun although we may decide to change to Cuba or do a week in each :-) ooh dress day :-) I've gotta start looking for mine after Xmas, just started slimming world so gonna give it till then to lose a bit of weight before I start. Only problem I have is I can't find anywhere that stocks bridesmaid dresses in the style I like that I found online and I don't want to order them if they won't suit the girls argh! Definitely go along to the make up session but don't let them pressurize you into buying stuff you don't want :-) you can even book how to do makeup sessions at some places now aswell.
Tell me about it! I asked my hairdresser how much it would be for a hair up and then how much for wedding hair and it more than tripled! Same as make up! Just a good job I'm a trained hairdresser and oh's cousin is training atm so she'll be qualified by then and has already asked to help with the hair :-)
With regards to the hotel, most normally offer a discount if your having a party there and if they don't ask for an upgrade and see if they'll do that for free instead. If they won't throw the sashes in they sell on ebay for about £1 each.
If you can't find artificial gerberas you could always have them pressed after the wedding so you can keep them.
That's a bit ridiculous about the ceremony but every area does it so differently! Would be easier if it was a set price all over the country!
Thanks :-) we thought so. We were torn between a church wedding or registry but coz were not overly religious and the church where my mum is is quite special to me I didn't want everyone we know to be there for the private service if that makes sense? Just felt like it would make it less special and plus the registry office we've picked is much prettier :-) xxx

    Hey

Thank you again for all of your brilliant tips! :) I shall ask my lovely H2B to take a look at the toppers. :)

Cancun would be fab. :j Will you be doing a trip to Chichen Itza? I am sure there are some great snorkelling trips in Mexico too. My H2B would love to go to Cuba.

I am terrified of Dress Day. :( I will also be slimming, only slight slimming but I am very conscious of my mahoosive hips! :rotfl:

How many bridesmaids are you having? I am quite lucky, only having the one, which means if the colour is right I am not too fussy about the style of dress matching up with everyone else's!. :o

So lucky to have your OH's cousin being qualified by the wedding! That will be so handy.

Fingers crossed I will be able to get a discount on the hotel. I am convinced that I will be able to barter with them. Looking forward to taking the mums around to have a look. :D

eBay is always good for bargains. Have made a note to check out sashes if needed. Thank you.

I never thought of pressing the flowers - such a good idea!

Argh, I know, I think my H2B is a bit peeved about not being able to cherrypick an officiant for the ceremony too, which is fair enough, you seem to interview everyone for a wedding, all of the suppliers except for the officiant, you just get who you're given!

I am with you on the church wedding stuff, my H2B is definitely not religious (not that he is anti-religion, he just isn't a big worshipper) so we ruled out the church wedding straight away.

It's lovely that you get a private intimate ceremony in somewhere so special to you. It will be such a beautiful and private moment. :)

We had some bad and good news this weekend...

My Dad politely informed me that if he cannot afford the time off work, he won't come to the wedding. It is bittersweet. It means I can ask my brother to walk me down the aisle which is what I wanted, but it does mean having a meal and a suit (total cost of around £150) on hold for my Dad just in case he decides to show up... :undecided:

Good news is that we have provisionally booked out dates and times. Not only that, but when I checked my work employees benefits, the company we quite like the look of for suit hire offers a 25% discount for employees of the company me and H2B work for! Happy budget days. :D hopefully that will balance out most of the cost of having a suit on hold for my Dad...

It's definitely good to have the wedding penciled in the diary though! :T

Hope all is well with you and your planning. :) xxx

Hey :-) hope you are well :-)

With regards to the toppers, if you don't see anything you like ask her if she can design something for you. That's what I did and I'm so pleased with it :-)

I think the plan atm for mexico is to stay in playacar and do all the trips out like swimming with dolphins and hopefully *fingers crossed * chichen itza and of course you've gotta do the shopping trip to cancun coz it's duty free :-p in Cuba I think we're planning on going to Havana on a night for the music and dancing and oh wants to go get some proper cigars lol

Dress day will be amazing, don't be scared :-) if you haven't got much weight to lose then I wouldn't worry, the dress will make you feel 100 times better anyway. Can't wait to start trying some on with my girls but it's gotta wait till after Xmas coz everyone's so busy. I am going to a wedding fair with mil2b tomorrow tho so that should be fun :-)
I am having 2 bridesmaids and have told them as long as their dresses are purple they can have whatever style they like.im really not fussed about them as long as they are gonna be happy and comfortable in them all day. What colours are you having? We're having purple, silver and ivory and there's some superhero theme stuff in there aswell lol (oh is a huge hero fan!)
For the sashes you could just buy rolls of organza cheap from eBay and do them yourselves. Same as table runners etc if the hotel don't provide that.
When are you getting married again? The time of year will change the discounts you can get but if they won't come down in price try and ask for better meal or buffet options, room upgrades if your just going to be in a standard double and ask about drinks packages or corkage fee if you want to buy your own. Don't forget to see if table linen is included to coz I've found some don't include it anymore!
I know! What if they give me a proper moody miserable officiant is what I'm worried about! We've been given a list of readings to choose from if we want them and we have to send our music in for approval so why can't we approve them! So annoying!
That's what we thought about the church wedding, although we are planning the big white wedding that felt a bit much for us especially coz of the emotional ties to the church for me. I like my privacy when it comes to my memories of my mum :-)
That's a shame about your dad but at least you get what you wanted. What colour suits are you having? Could you not get him to buy a normal suit in the same colour quite cheaply from asda or primark to save the 150 for the other one? I was quite happy to ask everyone to wear normal black suits until oh fell in love with a proper morning suit! So annoying and will cost 300 more!
Tell me about it! I love that there's a countdown to ours! We are leaving it till after Xmas to start booking stuff properly tho, just making lots of enquiries about everything atm so when January pay comes in it can all be booked and deposits put down straight away.
Been trying to plan the engagement party today too and managed to get a short list of venues together so far just gotta find the time to go and see them now :-)
Look forward to hearing more from you xxx

Hotel Ceremony & meal, Picnic/Reception, and, Stay at hotel

So, we ditched the idea of a picnic reception. We went to view our venue again and for ease we have booked everything there. We ended up spending £1625.00 on a ceremony venue, a meal & drinks package for ten people, and hot pork buns/cheese toasties (vegetarian option) for 70 people and a DJ. This also includes the bridal suite for me and the H2B on the night of our wedding.

    Photographer

We opted for a digital only package. The photographer will be around from the bridal preparations to the speeches. We love his style so we are excited about what he can do for the day. Total cost of £600.00

We have also hired a photobooth. Not in the original package, but actually depletes the favour costs, and guest book costs and also acts as a source for entertainment. This was £225 for three hours.

    Clothes

We got invited to the next VIP sale. On the basis that our colours are grey and yellow, we found a lovely grey dress which will be fab for a bridesmaid dress, on offer for £25.00. We have ordered it and are just waiting for it to arrive.
