Cavity wall insulation

Hi,

I live in an 1895 end terrace and thinking of getting cavity wall insulation.

Does anyone have any experience good or bad in this type of insulation?

Thanks.

I would be surprised if you have any cavitys in 1895 property, cavities were introduced around the 1930's. To make building cheaper.

Your options there for are external or internal insulation, both have advantages and disadvantages, have a look on the ENergy saving trust website to start with.

While doing some renovations, when we moved in, I had to do some rebuilding of a wall. There is definitely a cavity. Can't say how wide but it's there.

I had the cavity walls of my 1897 end terrace insulated eight years ago. no problems at all, and certainly made a difference. On my house, only the front and side wall could be insulated, the wall at the back is constructed differently. I'm planning to insulate the walls internally there, next time I decorate the rooms.

We're really noticing the difference since having cavity wall installed earlier in the year!

All out external walls downstairs are cold and some are slightly damp at this time of the year (I say damp, I mean condensation). I am considering getting it done but one thing I read when I googled it said there is no proof doing this will warm the house.

So, are you all saying it definitely does help? What prices am I looking at?

Because of the cavity depth you will probably want the bead insulation. Its unlikely that you will have a cavity for blown.

What is the difference in process?
