I'm hoping for 4 - F and H on 2 components. Bizarrely, the one I do have is the least likely to go ahead if it all collapses again.  😆

We are on half term. Dc is mightily relieved. And so am I. Dh will be working Mon-Weds and I know dc will appreciate the space.

I am looking into chronic fatigue. For dc. They do seem to tick a lot of the 'symptons'. And they have mentioned most of them for the last few months. We're seeing the Dr in a few days.

Ah, that makes sense, sadly.  Though I do know of children who had it very badly and went on to make complete recovery, it plays out quite a bit differently from adults.

I took dc to the Dr this morning and he's set a raft of blood tests in motion. Phew.

Yesterday dc was right poorly, even by their standards, and had to cancel a cinema visit and sleepover. But today, although they are much much worse in some ways, they were feeling much chirpier. And have gone to a joint youth group event + film.

And we have cancelled doing the D of E. Dc admits that they were doing it because their friends were. But had lost all enthusiasm for it, and it had become a chore. And what with the expedition and overnight camping ahead, I agree that they're better off not doing it. I don't want dc not to do things and give them a go (and quite possibly have it all go wrong) but given their current fatigue, it just seemed daft to do it. Especially as one of their group would make snarky comments and not understand dc at all.

And today's news is that dh met Batman and I made him have a photo with him 😎.

And the other news is that we are grandparents for the third time 🎉. Another boy, home birth, 8lb5 ish.

Congratulations on the new baby!  Lovely news.

So sorry that dc is so fatigued - but they *have* given the DofE a go - and not liked it, which is fair enough.

You're right, karma. I've become aware that I try to anticipated everything regarding dc, to ensure it doesn't overwhelm them. But I'm also then getting in the way of them excelling at something or having a fab time or dealing with problems themself. And thus they would be living a life of absolute mediocrity. Not what I want for them!

Granny apple x 3 !!! congratulations.  So dc is a very young erm, what is the gender neutral term ?

Had to edit it as I automatically put  A, but then realised wot I had done.

I'm not sure what dc is either! I'll ask them when they emerge. They are currently still in bed, but am not surprised as yesterday was a very social day. Plus they have a stinking cold and I heard them coughing and blowing their nose well into the night.

Dh has gone out to visit a friend so I'm all alone with my laptop and the telly. I've been offered another component contract which is one I really wanted, and have done the online training for that, so am feeling rather smug
