Ebay item not received - seller sent by recorded del

Hi guys,

Never had this happen before, basically I ordered an item and the seller sent it via recorded delivery.

After a week I realised I'd not received it so checked my account to see if it had been dispatched - which it stated it had,

It also showed tracking info number which I looked at and it showed a signature (squiggle) which is nothing like mine and I know I haven't signed for anything recently.

I opened a case stating the above and the seller has advised me to contact the post office.

Do I have a leg to stand on here? I'm not sure what to do,

Thanks in advance for your replies xx

If it shows as delivered then the seller will be covered.

Was it your address/local sorting office when you track it?

  • I believe it's showing as delivered to my address - though I'm not 100%
  • who needs to claim for it? sorry I'm useless when things don't go to plan ! x
  • As already said, seller will be covered. Ebay will side in their favour and you'd have to appeal the case. It could be hard for you to prove though.

Have you checked with neighbours or the sorting office to make sure no one else has it?

Post a parcel to yourself recorded signed for.

If desont get it delivered next day it appears as delived and you and the signatuire is same squiggle then you have a case with the royal mail for theft.
  • You claim, not the seller.
Just need to get a claim form from PO (might be able to download it) and get a copy of the proof of postage from the seller.
  • OP, the seller will win an INR.

First complain to your local Royal Mail delivery office - the Post Office are nothing to do with deliveries. Make a formal complaint that the parcel hasn't been delivered to you, don't let them fob you off.

Ask the seller if they can confirm the address it was sent.

Try and keep the seller onside as you will need their help.

You are able to claim for the loss, but without a certificate of posting you won't go far.

Try all of those things first.
