I'd also like to know who your conveyancers were, if it's not a cheeky ask. It's so rare to hear someone NOT complaining about their conveyancers!0

I also have a great conveyancer. And he has done work for about 5 of my friends, and every single one has said he was the best thing about the whole process.
I've never met him, nor have my friends, as he is based in Oxford - and these were all London sales. Absolutely fixed price for his work, no-complete no-fee (and he encouraged me to walk away from a bad deal, so he doesn't just push you so he can get his fee), quick response by email and phone. And always time to talk even if you are asking silly questions he has heard a 1000 times.
People are nervous about non-local solicitors, but we did everything by email/phone and snail mail. Quick and efficient.
PM me if you want the name!0

A word of warning about using non-local solicitors - a friend of mine used a solicitor I'd recommended to him who was a couple of hundred miles away. Although I'd done everything using the phone, email and scanner and it was no problem, his lender insisted that he went and dealt with some things face to face.
Can't remember who the picky lender was now, sorry.
Edit: I've remembered who the picky lender was. It was First Direct.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
 House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY0

When I get home later I'll dig out the conveyance details and PM them to you both pineneedles and LeChat.
Lizling that's a very interesting point! Thankfully this wasn't an issue with Coventry Building Society for me but it would have been a royal pain in the behind if they had required face-to-face meetings.
Looks like SE London is pretty popular at the moment 0 0
