People who get sanctioned on JSA

I am sorry if there is another thread about this but i tried searching and couldnt find it.

I know its been more than 10 days but according to the figures their are 400,000 people who got sanctioned on JSA. Now that is 400,000 people who are not on benefits. According to the government there are more than a million people in jobs. Now these 400,000 people, is government counting them as in work as they are not on jobseekers?

Is there any particular website where you can get all the statistics from?
If it ever got to the point where i have no money to eat. I would go to the police station and break something to get myself arrested. Atleast i would get a warm cell and food and if everyone who get SANCTIONED by the job center did that than the government would have to change there policy about sanctioning so many people on the work program.

Don't mean to sound rude but why do you want to know? have you been sanctioned?
  • The sanctions are only for a certain length of time often just a few weeks. The 400,000 wouldn't all be sanctioned at the same time just at some time over the year.

When I heard these stats I did wonder myself whether that is 400,000 sanctions rather than individuals and some people may have been sanctioned more than once.

I guess you need to read the small print on the reports to now exactly what's included in the stats.

No but i know a friend who got sanctioned. Now everyone i have spoken to are struggling. Other than these positive figures which comes on the news every 3 months i cant really see anything positive. No matter where i see people are losing jobs. I go to tesco and asda and see more and more of those self service tills which i refuse to use as i feel that i am taking someone's job by using those tills. I maybe wrong but to me reality doesnt match with the government figures and i just want to know where i am wrong.
