Credit file updates from lenders???

Hi all,
Can someone clarify please...
Can a lender report to Experien almost 2 years of loan data after an account is settled & closed? (Back date info)
The loan was taken out in sept 2011 but it didn't appear on my Experien credit file until after the account was settled & closed (April 2013) until sometime between July to Nov 2013.
Many thanks.

This happens quite often if there is a new address confirmed or similar that links this old account of yours to your new address/credit file. Or if the address is added in a slightly different format (but the same as the one the old creditor used).

It could even be that this particular lender has only just started reporting to experian and previously reported to one or other of the other credit reference agencies.

As long as the data reported is an accurate reflection it can be shown.

  • There wasn't a change of address or name...there was no record at all of the loan on my June 2013 Experien report but it appeared on my Nov 2013 report with back dated data despite the account being settled & closed in April 2013.
So potentially a lender who I had a loan with 5 years ago can suddenly decide to report all the loan data to my credit file today???

Yes, but it will show as settled 5 years ago with a good payment history, so will actually be good for your credit report.

Assuming all payments were actually made on time. If they were not then they are able to show missed payments etc.
