Hopefully this should be an easy question I just cannot find the answer.
If someone loses their employment and is on full Housing Benefits and they rent a garage from the council does housing benefits cover this?
The people in question are council tenants with 2 separate rental agreements, they were informed it wasn't covered by the council so haven't applied but the Job Centre have said it is claimable.

No Housing Benefit won't cover rental of a garage - it never has - a car doesn't have an eligible rental liability.
The Job Centre should not be giving out Housing Benefit advice but directing their customers to the Local Authority. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
A garage is not a home, if they are unwilling to pay for their garage with their own money, then bye bye garage.0

Thank you both that clarifies things. The person at their initial interview obviously gave out incorrect information.0
