After cleaning it thoroughly, (vacuum cleaner and damp cloth) try wiping it out with a cloth lightly soaked in a natural oil such as lavender. Leaving drawers or top open in a good through current of fresh air may also help as will popping a couple of naturally scented items into it such as balls carved from cedar/sandal wood. A final wipe over with real beeswax may also help.
