Should new conservatory have gap in base?

Options
I've just had a new conservatory built, 3m x 3m, and the builder left a gap all the way around the (inside) of the concrete base, in order for the electricty cable to be laid.

The power is now in, the builder came back to fill in the gaps but left the one by the opening doors saying this was to be left in case of damp.

The gap is around 3" wide and 2 ft deep (down to the foundations), does this sound right?

Apparently, I'm OK just to laminate over the gap?

Hi, Had my conservatory finished in april and the builder ran the cables in the cavity and into the floor but only deep enough to put cables in and sealed in. I am currently filling any gaps to stop the ants from getting in..

Why would you have damp in a brand new conservatory, built to standards with a dampproof membrane fitted, and of course, a course of blue brick to stop the damp...sounds weird to me. Yes you can fit over the gap, although this will always be a weak point as there is nothing under the board to stop it collapsing, mmmmmm
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!

That's what I thought too. I'd best speak to them again!

suggest you get in touch with your local council and get the building inspector to have a look.
