Hooking up an electric hooker-will existing cable be ok?

Hi folks,
I would appreciate some advice about hooking up an electric hooker.
I have an old Hotpoint EH 31 almost 17 years old and replacing with this one an zanussi ZCV550MWC

The supplier has told me that its just a case of screwing the cable from the back of the existing cooker (not from the wall) and then attaching the 3 live neutral live and earth to the new cooker.
Is it as simple as this and will the existing cable be able to carry sufficient current?
The reason that I'm asking is when I got a new shower in recently electrician was a bit anxious as to whether the cable was a 6 or a 10, luckily it was ok.
So just hoping that new cooker will be able to draw safely enough current on the existing cable.
Any tips gratefully appreciated.
John

Don't mess with electricals in a kitchen if you are not qualified. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

I don't see a power usage on the site for the new one but if they are the same usage or the newer one is a lower power model then you should be fine and it's no different to wiring a plug in terms of skill.
If you are in any doubt, have never wired a plug, can't find the power use of the old machine then get an electrician. Generally I'd say if you are asking the question as to whether its possible to do a direct swap then you aren't competent to do it yourself.0 -
Lol at 'electric hooker' in the thread title.
I'm guessing it doesn't matter how you 'hook it up' you're gonna have fun!
Disclaimer: The comical comments above should not be applied to an electric cooker, if you don't know what you are doing you should seek help from a qualified person.0 -

AH nice one....I do make some typoes from time to time, another one was a hard di*k problem....lol
Hope the electric hooker if its left on charge overnight is raving to go in the morning
I did disconnect the cooker before when lino was being laid down, and can connect an electric plug no problem, just a little worried about the cable capacity.
Thanks
