We used to trapse from my parents for a couple of days then to the other halfs parents for a couple of days and end up totally knackered.... it's just not worth it.
Since the kids came along, I insist christmas day is for my own family only (me, spouse, our children) in our own home. Boxing day we pop around to in-laws a bit, but christmas is ours alone.0 -
This will be first Christmas with my OH, going to his family which is very large and the majority of them I hardly know. I'm used to a small family gathering so feeling a bit daunted by it all - potentially it could be the kind of Christmas I'll be facing for the foreseeable future so hopefully it goes well.0

Im on my own this xmas and working nights xmas eve and xmas day, so xmas day will consist of having some cereal, and spending the day in bed

I had Christmas with an OH at home once, and once went to Jamaica to spend it there. But until you lose a family member you love, you don't realise how precious days like Christmas are. I know it's all cliched and someone will be thinking, God, I knew someone would come along and start going on about it being sad times for them or others, but, until you've been there...
Second one without my dad
I hope I don't miss another family Christmas cos we won't all be here forever.
BUT... the first one in my lovely home. Will wake up there with the BF and cats, but spend the day with mum and sister and her family (3 kids). The Monopoly will be out, there will undoubtedly be tantrums, arguments, tears, but hopefully lots of laughter too.
Mum generally does it all as she's like lightning and likes to escape into the kitchen, but I'll make a dessert and we'll all help where we can.
Only bought four presents so far. Skint, so am waiting until payday to get the rest!
