I'm so upset.
EDF Energy refunded me money as my account was in credit when I moved out 6 months ago and are now saying that it was 'wrongly reversed' and I need to pay it all back!
When they sent me the cheque back, I rang to make sure this was all correct and fine and they said it was!
Now they are saying that that was never the case and for some reason it looked like I was in credit when I wasn't!? The lady on the phone couldn't explain why or anything though!
It's £180 so a lot of money!
Surely this is their screw up and I shouldn't be getting penalised for it! They have only given me 10 days to pay as well!

I would write to them, head the letter COMPLAINT (so it gets treated properly), enclose copies of any correspondance you have had with them, tell them dates of calls etc, and request that they send you the series of bills that show they are entitled to this money.0

To add to what vuvuzela said, if they can prove that the credit was in error, you'll still owe them the money. However, as it is their mistake, and few people can afford an extra £180 in a month, you could suggest you pay it in a reasonable number of installments (e.g. £60 per month over three months)Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0
