AP Markers on Active Account

Hello All,
I have read numerous threads, but I cant work out if the below is a problem for my credit file or not. I had an issue which meant that I did not make payments to Nat West credit card.
The issue was that I paid into the wrong Nat West account, and as they had not made note of my new address I was not receiving statements. It was only when I went to use the card I found out there was a problem, called them up and was told I was late with a payment.
I agreed to pay it back ASAP once I recalled the money from another (wrong) account. Took a few weeks, but was paid and all was well. If I had not called, I would have not been able to find this out.
This was put right within three months - and the account has been up to date since Sept 2009.
However when I look at my credit file it shows AR which I am led to believe is as bad as a default on my credit file!
Is this correct? Can I do anything about it?

Not as bad as a default in your case as you brought it up to date.
Cards and loans search 3 years I think, mortgages 6.
That AR will fall off after 6 years anyhow, Aug 2015.:beer:0 -
Thanks happy_bunny - but my point is, I never entered a AR agreement, and I am hoping to apply for a mortgage this time next year.
This would add 12 months to my plans - which I dont really like the idea of.0 -
If you didn't make an arrangement to pay then you need to call NatWest and discuss with them the removal of incorrectly reported data to your credit file(s). If they won't comply then a complaint to the ICO & FCA may focus their minds.
You will still have a late payment marker though, there's no getting out of that, as by your own admission you were a month late with a payment.0 -
Indeed - a late marker I guess is a lesser evil of the two though?
Interestingly, I spoke to Nat West and they said I never had an arrangment to pay either. I have raised a dispute with Callcredit, and have had to write to Nat West to show them what I see. Sigh.....0 -
Ah, I see. They may have seen your offer to catch up over 3 months as an arrangement. Although odd they have no record.
Have you checked your report on experian and equifax too?
As said, you will likely get late payment markers, somewhere between 1 and 3 months late, depending how much grace they give. Some allow 30 days late before logging as late on your file.:beer:0 -
If the OP never made an agreement to repay then NatWest have recorded false information on his credit file. NatWest have no record of it because it never existed.0

Thats correct Gordon - and I have written to them to tell them this too - hopefully this will be corrected soon enough.0
