Where on earth did you hear that? I think you're mistaken, Sony would never introduce a paywall on the PS3 just because of the PS4, it would be counter intuitive.
I have to agree about the games though, there have been some fantastic games on PS Plus recently and it has paid for itself many times over. May want to keep an eye on the games available though as they are aimed at a more mature audience so some may not be suitable for your son (I can't tell how old he is as the age range of people playing FIFA is so wide :rotfl:)0 -
ye the ps3 won't introduce a paywall just because the ps4 does.
It's worth holding out till next year if you can but understand kids don't like to wait. It may be worth ringing up local retailers and asking if they know when stock may become available0 -
Best of luck - there are huge amounts of unhappy American purchasers with DOA units.
Check Amazon.com reviews ;-)
I'm waiting until after Christmas but I realise it's tough to do that with kids.
Huge amounts? Isn't it well below 0.5%? This figure is well within acceptable industry standards.ye the ps3 won't introduce a paywall just because the ps4 does.

I read that a senior Sony employee said 'it will no longer be viable to offer the PSN services for free, and a Plus account would be required across all systems' (not exact quote, but as best as I can remember it)0 -

Yeah they've been exagerrated a lot, nothing to worry about and it'll all be covered by warranties if there are problemsmatilda.cs wrote: »I read that a senior Sony employee said 'it will no longer be viable to offer the PSN services for free, and a Plus account would be required across all systems' (not exact quote, but as best as I can remember it)Shuhei_Yoshida wrote:That's [was] a big decision," he said, "what we internally discussed and decided is that we will continue the free access to online play on PS3 and Vita, so that's clear. But because on PS4 the online connectivity features such as second screen, auto downloads and share features - these are one big pillar of the PS4 experience and we will continue to invest in this area to expand and improve these online features and services.

Shopto are still listing any pre-orders as being delivered before Xmas. I only pre-ordered on Friday and have had conformation I'll get one on launch day.
As said PS+ subscription is required for many online functionality now, but it is a service well worth paying for as it'll give you new games to download each month as part of the subscription, including two games at launch Resogun and Contrast.0 -
Zavvi have a limited day one stock on a bundle with Killzone, extra controller and the camera0
