PS4 for Xmas ?!

Options
Ok, so my nipper has asked Father Christmas for a PS4 at this late stage !!!

He wants it for Fifa14 & there appears to be no bundles with that included so need a solo unit

Looking at all the major retailers, I aint gonna get a solo for Xmas day :(

Will stores have them on launch date for me to queue up at midnight to collect in person ??

I'm sure you'll be able to pick one up in store, just be vigilant.

I've had a quick Google search and I can't find anything that will deliver for Xmas...sorry.
  • If you preorder from somewhere like Game, you can always cancel the preorder if you get one sooner... Preordering now will give you more chance of getting one by xmas, if you havent been lucky in store.
If you dont preorder, you cannot guarantee you will get one before 2014.

If you're lucky, Game (or somewhere similar) might have excess stock instore for non preorders, but you would need to queue very early!!

Asda just had a Day One xbox in stock...Perhaps try supermarkets?

Otherwise, ebay isnt too pricey at the moment.

I'm sure you could pick up a bundle once its released, asda were also doing pre orders (they were in store though, not usre if they are still doing them).

How old is he? FIFA14 is available on the ps3 if the ps4 isn't a must have this year, ps3 is also free online.

Does he like Pokemon? might be easier to get him a 3DS and one of the new Pokemon games, and the FIFA 14 on PS3/Xbox as a back up option.

If I thought I was getting a PS4 for Christmas and unwrapped a 3DS I'd be seriously disappointed :p he most likely wants FIFA 14 to play online with his friends, (in which case OP make sure to pick up a subscription for PlayStation Plus to enable online play)

I'm sure OPs son would understand that he may have to wait until a little bit after to Christmas to get the console he wants, they just don't have enough standout games on nintendo consoles anymore.
  • The PS3 now requires (or will on release on PS4) a PSN subscription. Its worth having anyway as it gives you access to many games, all free every month.

I wouldnt buy my son a 3DS, as the 3D aspect isnt really tested fully and its effect on your eyesight is not yet fully known.

If you can afford it, go for the PS4. Its a better system than the XBoxOne (Xbox doesnt yet support 1080p on many games) Its main selling point is the Kinect, but the Playstation Camera does most of the same things.

I doubt he likes Pokemon if he's looking to buy FIFA. If he wants to play with his friends, then he needs the same console that they are getting. you cannot play against someone who is on a different console as you. (unless you wait for a steam box, which would be silly)

Best of luck - there are huge amounts of unhappy American purchasers with DOA units.

    Check Amazon.com reviews ;-)

I'm waiting until after Christmas but I realise it's tough to do that with kids.
