How often do you or should you obtain your CRA reports?

I last paid my £1 for mine around a year ago.
How often should i obtain my reports?
Every year? every 2 years?
I'm not looking to get more credit, just to make sure everything is fine and dandy...

I look at mine monthly from Noddle for free.
Twice a year with Equifax (free with Capital one).
Any probably about once every 2 years from Experian because that is not free.

About every 6 months just to make sure no-one has put anything nasty on that they shouldn't. On the principle that I don't want to wait until I apply for credit, only then to find some company has screwed my report.

I am checking it every month with Equifax. Idk, but for some reason they offer me 30 day trial every month, so it is basically free for me :)

I didn't used to but it almost cost me a mortgage and a house. Now i do it a couple of months before I want to apply for any credit.

However I have a Noddle account for a quick peek.
  • Further to this (and after accessing my Noddle report) i can see i have 6 searches for various insurance (Quote me happy, and various others)
    Do these affect anything?
