I have lots of old photos on my windows PC.
I have in the house a Smart enabled Samsung tv, a Samsung galaxy tablet 2 and a s3 phone. I take lots of photos on the s3 aswell.
What's the best app or device wher I can use my wireles where i can view my photos on any device at anytime and that's easy to set up.
Also what's NAS and its purpose and would I need one?
Thanks

A NAS is probably worth considering as a solution to your question, basically it's file storage that is connected to your network and available for other devices on the network to use. The most basic NAS devices are similar to an external hard drive but instead of plugging the hard drive into a USB port on your PC, instead you connect it into your network. As you up the range NAS devices can hold more hard drives, have more performance etc. so it's a case of choosing what is suitable for your requirements.
With many different networked devices (laptops, tablets, TVs, phones, consoles etc.) one of the most useful purposes for a NAS device is a central storage system which you can access from any device. So you can put music, photos, videos, documents etc. onto it and then listen to the music, watch videos or so forth on any of the devices in your house. It can also be useful as a backup for your PC so if your PC fails, you have your data on the NAS to restore back.

I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 and have the same issue. I have a NAS box, but finding an app or software to display the photos on it is a nightmare. I've tried dozens, using all different protocols,, with no joy. Eventually I found ES File Explorer which will show the photos, but it's so, so, slow.
I gave up in the end, put a 32gb card in the tablet and just load the photos onto it. It had the beneficial bonus of making me sort through my photos for once! Quick Pic displays all the photos quickly and in their folders.0 -
Yes I too are convinced the easiest route is putting documents onto a micro sd card or a usb hard drive and porting it to the other devices.
BUT, we live in an age of technology where by i thought I would just have a device such as explained above NAS set up and I would just click a button and the film on my pc would appear on my tv.... etc etc
anyone else have any thoughts off a decent app for the NAS?

Sync all your photos to Dropbox.. easiest way to share between the phone and the tablet
You can then 'beam' the photos from your S3 to your Smart TV (it's simple enough my 4 year old can do it)
There's also google+ ... both dropbox and google+ (and facebook now) can upload your photos, as you take them, into the cloud0 -
Thanks -its a good idea for photos.
Go on, how do you beam from the s3?
Can this be done from my samsung tab2 tablet? I have a dropbox account which i can log into on the website, but I didn't want it as another physical folder on the tablet and pc because it takes up alot of memory. (I have 60gb of photos)
Can I log into the website then send the photos to the tv?
p.s Ive tried logging onto my dropbox account on the tv but it will not show the photos.

how often are you going to actually look and need to look instantly from any device at 60GB of photo's?
stick them on a usb stick/disk/multiple dvd's, and plug it into a set top box/smart tv/dvd/pvr if you don't mind the potential privacy issues, or just leave them on a laptop/pc
and backup!!!

I hear you, I did say that myself earlier...
Can I ask what this "all share" platform is?
When I go on the smart section of my tv it has this app, which is also on my tablet? Could this be an alternative to a sd card....
Also when on my smart tv it picks up my windows pc when it scans.0 -
Make sure your TV is on your network. Then, in the default samsung photo viewer, you will get an icon to say there is another output available. My old HTC DEsire HD could do it too. It's basically using DLNA to sent the picture. Works well for stored videos too
If in doubt, so some googling
My windows 8 laptop can do the beaming trick too0 -
So, without using the phone would surely be better - does your smart TV support DLNA, or uPNP? If so, and if set up correctly, it should be able to show the photos directly from a share on a network, no phone involved...0
