  • Nothing more to add to the good advice given.

Just wanted to send a *hug*, good luck x
  • Thanks again , feeling a little better tonight although tired which must be a good thing and hopefully I will sleep tonight.

Day 2 of my new life starts tomorrow. There are a million things I want to change but at least I feel like I have made a start today x

That's exactly it! One step at a time, I feel like I'm 18 and learning to live away from my parents again at times...except I learned nothing when I was 18 and I've never been 100% free of debt in the last 17 years!

I can fully empathise with the feelings towards the children. It was hell telling hubby but the sheer shame when my children found out was devastating. They are now on board he money saving train with me. They help plan meals, follow shopping lists (there's nothing like being told by a 6 year old in the middle of Aldi "that's not on the list") they are doing the Roadkill Rebels challenge with me (and putting me to shame!) and we've had some fantastic weekends that have cost nothing. All in just one month! The greatest gift you can give the children is your time and attention. All four of mine struggle to remember what santa brought last year but they remember dancing in fake snow in the street as the town Christmas lights were switched on and an entire day decorating the dining room with paper snowflakes.

You CAN do this and everyone will be here beside you as you do.

  • Thanks for responses :)

Can anyone give me an idea. I need to send letters to PDL - I need to confirm that I will only communicate in writing , have cancelled my CPA and confirm a monthly offer ££. Also, ask them to remove my work number from their system. Some help on wording would be great :)

Just say it simply as above. No elaborate letter required.

For the CPA, say you cancelled with your bank (presuming you have) and you are cancelling with the PDL company too.

Post it here if you want the wording looking over.

  • Strange I was just about to post!

Yes I cancelled CPA with my bank , they were brilliant and I had confirmation today that it was all done plus my new bank card. As a precaution I moved my money to my other account. Now to deal with the onslaught of phone calls. I had a text from one @ 8.30 to say my payment hadn't gone through - by the time I got to work at 9.20 I already had two messages to call Mr L back !!!
I need to get these letters done - I am dreading tomorrow now , I work in an open plan call centre so people can hear. Top priority tomorrow is getting those "only communicate by letters" done and posted.
I have every intention of paying them off but it will have to be much smaller payments that I can afford.
  • Update.
As I couldn't sleep was up by 5.30 and emailed companies explaining situation etc. have had a response from My J*r already to say they will not contact me by phone unless I request it. They are placing my acct on hold with no interest for 30 days and are happy to consider a repayment plan.

It was a perfectly polite & helpful email and I can't say fairer than that.

Awaiting response from the other 3 now ..,.

Excellent news, just goes to show that they can be reasonable, I suppose it helps that their industry is currently under a lot of scrutiny. Now start as you mean to go on, onwards and upwards!
  • No phone calls today - couple of texts and that was it! Need to get payment offer letters off this weekend.

And my new bank account (which I assumed as I hadn't heard anything I had been turned down for) have just sent my new bank card & details.

    Getting there slowly .....
