I would be the total opposite to you. Knowing I can't get chased through the courts, I wouldn't worry about any minor overstays any more if I lived in Scotland.
I agree, it wouldn't bother me at all and the desperate letters would be a source of amusement.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

That's my take on it too.
With a home address in Scotland I just ignore all the stupid rules - especially concerning length of stay - anywhere in the UK these days.
The only parking restrictions that I truly respect are disabled spaces.
Over the last few years I have amassed a collection of letters threatening all sorts of rubbish that cannot happen.
Having said that I do not blatantly abuse the system - I pay parking charges at machines on private ground etc etc.
I just don't give a hoot for the greedy ex-clampers who are out to fleece the unwary.
Do not contact them in any way at all - that shows uncertainty of the law in Scotland and they will keep on at you for up to a year before they give up.0 -

I don't worry about them in England either. That's not to say I purposely break the T&Cs - I just don't worry about them. If I'm 15 minutes over time, big deal."The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0 -

Same here exactly - as a customer of a retailer you can take your time shopping and don't have to dance to the tune of some scammer who has set up their dirty little protection racket in the car park. Like you I don't set out to break any 'rules' and wouldn't park in a disabled bay or unsociably across bays - but a minor overstay is tough titty!can anyone advise me what how likely or not it will be that Euro will take me to the Sheriff Court on a civil claim?PRIVATE 'PCN'? Just thought I would update this thread to say that all has been quiet since July 2014. Not a cheep from Euro Car Parks since then.
Hope this has all gone away, but maybe I'm tempting fate.
I've been good and not received any "fines" since.
I haven't been watching this forum (apologies) but just wondered if any private parking cases have been brought in the Scottish courts?0 -
They have appeared 3 times in Sheriff Court in the last 12 months - for 1 case - where they did a sneeky claim and were found out. OP Recalled the decree and they are spending a bit of time deciding if they have a claim or not.
It's the same with the others. Have a punt at default decrees in the hope no-one fights back. There is one case tomorrow where they have been discussing the case on 7 different occasions.
They must think folk are soft or stupid north of the border.
Edit: Of course don't forget it goes the other way. Civil Enforcement were in court today for their fraud charges. Its only a matter of time before Smart, Euro and UKPC join them. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

If you have a Scottish ticket, instead if hijacking an old thread, the best thing to do is read the Newbies Sticky and start your own thread if you really feel the need0 -
Good evening/morning. I am a bit raging annoyed really December 16 just after Christmas I received a parking fine stating I was parked within morrisons carpark at Dalkeith Edinburgh in September 16 over a time which I didn't see any notices. On that day I was in Dalkeith shopping and also shopped in morrisons with my daughter aged 4. Now I don't shop and out again am usually in shop for over an hour anyway usually.more. if I new there was a limit I wouldn't have bothered never got a ticket or anything on screen when I left. I was shocked when I got this. I emailed them and got my friend to email as she is good with things like tussle now they never replied I got another letter saying that I still haven't paid £150.00 which was awfy high parking fine. Which I email them back but they done seem to answer you which again thought was strange. I contacted citizens advice they said ignore then thus morning received letter from zenith debt management saying that I have to pay or settle this and if not court action will be taken. I gave heard different things and don't know what to do xny advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance xxx0
