Just adding someone to a James Villa booking and have been told they have to have insurance. I am a bit lost as to why as they are supplying the villa only,
any ideas?

advises that they must be insured, but James Villas's insurance is NOT compulsory.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
In general it's crazy to travel without insurance and companies want to cover themselves against problems (e.g. people falling very ill and them being stuck with a problem).
In this case it may not make any sense but it's probably a general policy for the company.
If you don't like their policy then don't buy a holiday from them but I think you will find that this is common practice in the industry.
It is crazy to travel without insurance as repatriation, medical and legal bills could potentially be very high.
Companies are just trying to protect their own businesses and if you don't like their Ts&Cs then you don't have to do business with them (but as I said this is standard practice).0 -
We've used them before and just told them we already had our own insurance and supplied them with the co name,
bit like travel agents like you to use their recommended insurance, but we always say 'oh no, we've already got ours through sainsburys for £40' and if they want to they can match it, but James Villas just asked for proof,
we usually use
www.atlasdirect.net
but never had to claim so don't know how good they are,
I'm trying to be a good moneysaver
but I keep reading the bargains on the grabbit board !:rotfl:

found insurance for 3 people (one 70 yr old) was £14.00 for a week. bargain.0

Just wanted to add another reason - they may want to check what liabaility cover you have within your policy as if you have certain liability cover it may cover some damage done (accidental obv)0
