Exit proposal - any advice??

Options
Hi,

Hope its ok to post this here.

I have recently encountered an issue at work and was prevented from carrying out my role, even though I was acting in line with company policy. I have done nothing wrong and this is not the first time I have been forced to brush an allegation under the carpet.

I have taken legal advice and I have a case, however I think life will be pretty difficult if I try and raise a grievance so i have been advised to put forward an exit proposal in the first instance. If this is accepted, I will get some form of payout but nothing massive.

I have recently got an IVA and I have no idea how or what benefits I could claim. I have never claimed benefits and I intend on looking for work asap but finding a job is not always that easy.

Has anyone encountered this and any advice?

Thank you

Does anyone's health, wellbeing or safety depend on you performing your role correctly? If so and you are being prevented from doing it properly then you should speak up. If not, I would be tempted to just ignore it.

Having said that, don't ignore the professional legal advice you have been given because of anything anyone might post in response to your question here. You haven't really given a lot of info about the problem to get meaningful answers tbh.
  • I have taken a settlement. I pushed to go to a tribunal but my solicitor advised me that the settlement was good.

So I am now unemployed :-(

Just because there is an IVA please don't let it stop you claiming, check out your local council website - should be a checker/calculator for benefits on there, JSA can be applied for online today, then within 48 working time hours you should be given an appointment day and time to attend to get your claim started https://www.gov.uk/jobseekers-allowance/how-to-claim
Benefits only have to last as long as needed, hoping you'll be back on your feet soon x

Upload your CV on all the jobsite websites - that can be done straight away to, all at the click of a mouse nowadays!

There is a myriad of benefits you can claim. The best place to go is online at the DWP website and then your local job centre. Or, for more pragmatic (or should that be better) advice you could post in the benefits section of MSE.

With regard to JSA I think the Job Centre will see you as having resigned, therefore no JSA for 26 weeks. After this time, you will be eligible for 182 days of contribution based JSA, after that it is income based, i.e. you are means tested.
