Single pipe system

Hi wonder if you guys can clarify something for me as I have had a few plumbers contradict each other.
Our heating system is from the 60s and is a single pipe system. It all works but when we extend we are going to put a new combi boiler in.
One plumber has said we would need to rip everything out and put In a whole new system. The other said that's not correct and we just need to add a new combi boiler and switch the radiators that we want to. He also says the rads and piping we have now are better than the ones so he wouldn't change them.
My question is can new combi work on a one pipe system ?
Thanks

some will some won't allow their boiler to be fitted to a one pipe system, a one pipe system is very old tech & really needs changing, it doesn't work very well & if you are thinking of adding more rads it might not work at all, if it was my job i wouldn't be fitting a new boiler without changing it, people change boilers, people change rads, but most think the pipes will last forever, while the pipes should last longer than a boiler or rads sometimes you do need to replace them,
if one guy thinks what you have now is better, i wouldn't be letting him anywhere near my boiler or heating systemI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Southcoast's comments about not putting a new boiler on your single pipe system are noted. But neither is it necessarily a job which needs everything changing. It would be possible to install new flow side plumbing and retain the old pipework as the return or vice versaOne plumber has said we would need to rip everything out and put In a whole new system. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0
