Closing up fireplace

Getting plasterer out tomorrow to phaser chimney breast after I removed our surround. We discussed sealing it up so there is the gap where the original fire was. We have a vented cap in the chimney and he said it was okay to completely seal the fireplace by putting some plasterboard at the top. Do you need a cent there too? If we do we discussed adding a circular vent like you would find on your roofline.
Advice please.
Thanks!

You do require a vent here we normally put in rectangle vents when blocking up a fireplace.0

Quick one. I don't want the vent to be visible. Do you place it at the top of the inset area, where I will be placing the board? Thanks!0

you place it as low down as possible as moisture rises.0
