Thanks for the link, I'll give it a go.

I don't beleive this, since ordering a new fan ''yesterday'' the computer has not shut down once it has been shutting down every couple of hours for the last week.

I fitted the new fan nearly 3 weeks ago and my computer is now working fab.

tbh if you don't know what you're diong it may be best just to pay a computer shop a few quid to fit a new hsf as if you add too much or not enough thermal paste or don't seat the hsf right then you'll have problems.
