So many people talk about the merits of Thunderbird that I thought I'd download it. It looked nice and fresh and I think I could have got used to it, but, despite trying to import my address book from firefox, it didn't give me the option, just outlook express and a few things I didn't recognise, so I started copy/pasting one by one.
Then I remembered that having click on the desktop thunderbird ico, I was taken straight into my account. This I DO NOT want, I want to access it via a password as per yahoo. There didn't seem to be anywhere where this could be set up, so I removed it all.
I'm happy to install it again, if someone can explain how the two things above can be achieved.

If you go into the options, click the "Security" tab and the "Passwords" sub-tab, you can store passwords so you'll be logged in automatically, delete them so you won't be, or set up a master password (which you can enter to automatically log in to all your mail accounts).
I don't think there is an address book in Firefox -- you're probably looking at an address book on your webmail. There might be an option to export your address book on the webmail site that you're using, but if not, I imagine you'll have to copy the addresses manually.0 -
