Free loft insulation if you own your home?

Hello
I am hoping someone can possibly point me in the right direction... I recently bought a house which doesn't have any loft insulation. My builder said I should get the loft insulated and suggested phoning companies that come and do it for free?
I know 2 people in my area that called Find Energy Savings and have had it done through them. I tried this also, but each time I call, they say they have no contractors in my area. I've been waiting around 3 months now and they can't give any timescales of when they should have contractors.
Does anyone know anyone else that do this type of thing if I own my home and not on benefits? I've also tried Home Energy Scotland.
Any advice is much appreciated.

I got mine done via British Gas, about 14 months ago in Glasgow but IIRC the power companies are pulling these deals.0 -
Have you asked the Energy Saving Trust? And also your local council? Think actually EST told me what my local council would do - or at least put me on to the right dept. I'm a home owner and could have had free cavity wall (except it had already been done) and free underfloor if the crawl space was big enough - so you should be able to get basic loft insulation done... Just be aware the loft will have to be completely empty and you will not be able to use it for storage afterwards...0

I thought the free stuff had ended and now it's loans unless you are on benefits?
Similarly the £1 a poll offers on loft insulation have ended
eta: poll = roll0 -
There's no Free loft insulation as a stand alone install unless you are on qualifying benefits ATM0
