Good news for her. It's hard cheese when you pay into a sytem all your working life and then get turned down because you've managed to save a bit through hard work.

I'm not sure who that post is aimed at Toots, but in this thread the OP started by telling us that her relative had been deemed ineligible for benefits, so following your principles that would have kinda been the end of the conversation. If she had said such-and-such was the situation and did anyone know what her relative might be able to claim, that would be in keeping with the board guidelines that you refer to. As it is she started off by saying the system wasn't fair.

I got totally confused actually, as first it seemed she had been told to claim IB, then that she was not able to get it, then that she had received some back-pay of it, and finally that she had been on it all along but the payments were going to the wrong address.

Given the literal interpretation of these guidelines, it should have been the OP herself who posted on the Discussion board, shouldn't it?
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

I agree yogibear, but we will probably get our hands smacked for saying it.

With regards to my so called confusing story, it was confusing for us too. We were told by different departments she could have IB, then that she could'nt, then that they had sent it etc, only on Monday after 2 visits to CAB, about 20 phone calls did we discover all the letters telling her what her entitlement was and the giros had all gone to the wrong address.
