Help with buying a car please
Hi
I have £6500 saved for a car as my husband has a new job. He will be motorway driving to work. We would like a car in the low tax bracket and cheaper insurance if possible, we were looking at 1.2 or 1.4 diesel with the less emissions. We don't mind what car it is but I'm so scared of making he wrong decision it's a lot of money to spend. We have been looking at used cars in main dealership garages. As you get a warranty. Any ideas of a car which is good on the motorway but economical to run? I've been looking on the which car site but none seem to stand out.

I wouldnt want a 1.2 or 1.4 diesel for lots of motorway work.
A bigger engine may actually use less fuel at motorway speeds.
I have a 2L Mondeo diesel at 70mph i can do 60MPG. OK it may cost £100 a year more tax. But that's neglible in the total cost of running a car.
Used a warranties are not that great. Unless its a manufacturers warranty do not expect it to pay out.
They tend to cover parts that dont break or wear out. So if something that doesnt break or wear out you maybe covered for that. But not much else.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
