Court fine

I had a court fine for a car declared off the road and got taken to court. I got offered £120 penalty. Being out of work i could not pay the fine and got a letter saying it's now being taken up to £420.

I stupidly payed off money on my other debts because they was calling my house 24/7, i did not want them to come around but now i have learned the hard way the court was the most important.

I tried explaining this to the court debt collectors over the phone but they dont care. They want immediate payment of £550 which i dont have. I can make a first payment of £70 leaving me with nothing so not sure how i'l cope with food etc, my mortgage is due again soon so would have to pay the fine instead. They wont offer any payment deals.

They wont money i dont have, i'm happy to pay £50 a week but thats not an option. Please help loosing sleep at night.

Oh and i cant find the letter to call them back. What company is it that handles court fines.

If you had come here first, for signing one bit of paper and paying £5 to a solicitor we could have made sure there was no fine at all.

That's not really helpful since it's in the past. If i had not of left the car on the road for One night i would not have a fine. I need help with the current situation.

No, just trying to ascertain some details.
As this is a court fine, you did not turn up at court so you were unable to plead poverty and have an interim payment set up.
If you miss the payment deadline, they will issue a warrant for your arrest.

You really should have attended court and set a payment offer.
I would visit the court office in person and speak with the desk about them setting a payment plan, it can be done with a magistrates signature.
    Be happy...;)

You won't be worse off than not going.

Hope that week's work netted you more than £550
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

Is it still worth going CAB? they said they could get me a reduced fine but the balifs had assigned for my house to be visited tomorrow. This would of taken the cost up to £800.

Luckily my uncle who is wealthy paid it. First time in my life asked for money. I offered them £200 a week until clear. They gave Me One choice. I know it's my fault but i had other debts and didnt realize the priority ones.

should i bother? they even charged me £1 card fee :/
