Cardiff Residents Parking Westgate Street

I'm moving into a property located on Westgate Street in Cardiff and am struggling to find any free or inexpensive parking in the near by area. I was hoping someone else would be able to help me out. After ringing Cardiff City Council I was told they couldn't give me a residents permit for the street over, and the near by Angel hotel have quoted me £30 a day...
If there's no resident parking on my street, is there literally nothing I can do apart from paying in a ncp?
I hope someone can help me out!! Thank you

Park further away and get a bus between home and where you park? Sell your car and use a car club if there is one?0

Westgate street is a nightmare when a match is on at the Millenium stadium."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Because westgate street is ideal for work for both me and my partner - which is what the move is primarily for. Plus the place is lovely
Why would a particularly busy place bother me if I'm living in the city anyway? That isnt a worry for me.
Thanks for the free parking heads up - 15mins is quite a trek though, because cathedral road is an option too so I did want something closer.
So I guess I have no rights to a residents permit for a road over if there's no designated spots for my street then? Very annoying!0 -
Is the reason you can't get a permit because you don't live in the street where you want to park, or because the council issue a limited number of permits and there are currently none available for your area? The latter is quite a common way for councils to deal with resident parking, and they would presumably have a waiting list that you could go on.0
