Hi,
Advice needed pls!
Have never bought used car before but yesterday put deposit on used 4x4 in a used car dealership. Asked for discount but salesman said he couldn't give discount but would include 'Land Rover' (untrue) warranty at greatly reduced price. I was actually thinking about a warranty so this might have been good news.Terms and conditions not fully explained but said they would be sent. Signed dealership order and agreement to purchase car (warranty detailed on form as 'dealer accessories')
However on returning home and being told by son that alloys were non standard Range Rover (invalidates warranty) I began feeling dubious about purchase, I searched the web for terms and conditions on the warranty only to discover that the warranty specifically did not cover 'off road' either.
I now feel that I was coerced into buying the vehicle by the misrepresentation of the offer of a bargain warranty that will be invalidated if I take my 4x4 off roader...off road!
I have spoken with the Manager (who agreed the warranty would not cover off road and the wheels also constitute a problem) He initially has agreed to return the deposit I feel that I have been taken in by the salesman's dubious practice and duped by them. I have cancelled the order totally and requested my deposit back on the grounds that the contract was based on the car + warranty and they have failed to fulfil their part of the agreement ie. the warranty.
Do I have a 14 day 'cooling off' period with regards to the warranty (insurance)?
What chance do I have of getting my deposit back based on these grounds as I feel the whole sale process has been a case of lies and misrepresentation.
Thank you

So what did the manager say?0 -
He has said that he will return the deposit HOWEVER looking at reviews of this dealership on the web it would appear they operate quite a few sharp practices ( I know, I know I should have checked beforehand!!)
Just wanted to know what, if any, are my consumer rights should the deposit not materialise. Have spoken with him and also sent e-mail confirming cancellation within 12 hrs of deposit. No confirmation in writing from them as yet.0
