Tesco Ice Cream Cone recall

This came as a surprise to our local Tesco Staff yesterday.
The product was on display in the freezer section. I thought 'Oh this is new, I'll try them.' I put the item in our trolley but when cashier checked it through a screen warning came up. She called the supervisor who initially had the attitude ' What are you slavering about?' but on reading the warning said something to the effect ' Oh, I'll have to look into that.' Didn't seem to have given it, or was giving it any priority. Classic case of left hand and right hand......
First World War communications systems came immediately to mind.
I didn't go in today to see if freezer had been cleared.0 -

Here's the story in The Grocer - seems it was codeine and paracetamol in the ice cream itself

Time for an e-mail to Tesco HQ and some embarrassing questions for the store manager? If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Time for an e-mail to Tesco HQ and some embarrassing questions for the store manager?
No point, they will tell you that the first thing they do in such situations is stop the till selling the product then send a message out to the store managers.
Stopping the tills selling the product is instant but getting the message to VERY store manager can take time. A store manager may not be at his desk when the email arrives, so may not get it until some time later.
All that happened was the customer picked up the product after the tills had stopped sales of the product and before the manger had received the message or organised someone to remove the products.
Nothing embarrassing about it at all.0 -
