badly scratched white enamel stove top

I caused the scratches while trying to clean it.
I have tried every product, vinegar and bicarbonate solution but nothing cleans the stains well enough, so I used a scourer and some sand paper (yes!) and that obviously scratched the enamel pretty badly over time.
We are renting and so I am a bit worried about the way the hob looks now.
Sometimes I am frying stuff and even with no spills, I still find it gets brown all around the hob :exclamati.
I was thinking of getting some enamel spray finish and try covering the scratches using a buffing wheel (saw someone on YouTube use that).
Where could I get those? I looked in Wickes but they only sell paint for the radiators and that isn't suitable for cooking appliances.
Also, will it be very obvious the hob has been painted over?
