  • We still have a few every now and then. The two cats aren't bothered in the slightest but one of my nan's dogs gets really stressed out and has to be sedated bless her
  • gosh sedated, that must be awful :/

my dads dog doesn't like them, won't go outside if there are any being set off.

Yes we have them again tonight. I think in the last 3 weeks there has only been 2 nights without any.

Luckily my dog is not bothered particularly but they are driving me mad. They all seem to be the loud bang ones and drown out my tv. Why can't people have them on the right night?

where I am we get fireworks from Halloween til after New Years Day. especially on weekends. Luckily none of my animals (past and present) bat an eyelash. possibly because none of us humans are bothered by them? I can remember as a child people taking their dogs along to firework parties! unthinkable now!

My poor dog's a quivering wreck, we've had fireworks for the past 2 nights.
  • I saw there is a petition about having them banned apart from for professional displays, I can't decide if I think its just a bit dull or a really worthwhile petition. Obviously for all the pets struggling it is without doubt a great petition.

I never thought I would be against fireworks but every year it just gets more and more ridiculous. I can understand people having them on bonfire night and, if that falls on a weekday, having them the weekend before or after but they just go on for weeks. My dog is not really bothered by them but I am utterly sick of them now. Also it seems fewer and fewer of the pretty ones are let off, it's almost all the really loud ones that just bang which seem pretty pointless really. They are often so loud they drown out my tv

You only have to read about all the pets that go missing at this time of year (look at the first post on here about poor old Ruars), having been frightened by fireworks. Some run out into the road and get killed like little Jamie that Walwin posted about. Its not just for pets that struggle, think of the poor wild animals too.
It is a really worthwhile petition if you care at all about animals.
  • Oddjob that is a very good point about the wild animals. I can totally see how its a very worthwhile petition for all animals and have already signed it :D
