Bare Minerals - is it any good?

As per title!

I keep getting drawn to the Bare Minerals ads - they seem to be everywhere at the moment.

Has anybody any experience of this brand - is it any good? The TV ads, before and after pics, seem too good to be true. As a cynic, commonsense tells me that if something seems too good to be true...

i use it and i love it. I am 52 with very fair dry skin. I think it's brilliant, you should give it a go.
  • I changed to it in summer and not regretted it.
Go to debenhams and get the products tried on you and then order from qvc as you can return after 30 days if you don't like it even if it's been used
  • I am with the 2 above posters love it
    will buy again
  • I used to use it but found it made my skin itch. Think it was the Bismuth Oxide (??) in it.
I agree about ordering from QVC though. If you hate it you can return it and all you've lost is the postage costs.

After BE, I used Lily Lolo for a while as much cheaper and you can order samples to get a better colour match.

Now I use Laura Geller Balance and Brighten as it is so much easier and no itching.

Give BE a try, you might love it. I'm not keen on the feel of liquid foundation on my skin now.

  • Bare minerals made my skin awful. As clutterfree mentions, it contains bismuth oxychloride which is known to be acnegenic. I have acne anyway but this was awful.

I went on to Lily Lolo and loved it but then found due to my skin issues it caked. I still use their bronzing mineral powder and the translucent silk finishing powder though.
  • I've been using Bare Minerals for 3 months and I'm loving it. I've always hated foundations before as they felt so heavy on my skin, but I developed some vitiligo so had to cover it up with something. I use the original powder (still on the 1st pot) and it's really light but gives great coverage.
I bought one of the customised starter kits, I haven't needed to use the primer though.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions everyone. I'm thinking I will give it a go. However, also interested in learning more about the alternatives suggested here - never heard of some (must get out more!).

I've got quite an uneven skin tone and dark circles under my eyes (always look tired even if I'm not!) - uggh, I sound a mess! Looking for some make-up that will even come close to giving a more 'polished' look.

I also have dark circles. I've tried so many different concealers looking for my Holy Grail product. Still not found it...

...I feel your pain! Best one I've found so far (and I've tried them all YSL etc) is an Aldi special :)

Me too - YSL, Benefit, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Boots, the list goes on...

I think I tried the Aldi one too and was impressed. Was it in a similiar pen type thing like YSL? We don't have an Aldi round here so I had a friend buy it and post it to me. May have to give them a call... :D

At the moment I am using a cheapo Collection 2000 concealer but is only okay for spots, too drying for under eyes. Using a Laura Geller dream concealer for under my eyes. It's okay but still not THE one! :o
