I have a Yamaha RX-V1800 amp which has stopped working. It's absolutely dead. I have 240vac on the mains input on the power supply board but nothing on the output to the mains transformer (CB6). Can anybody advise? I wonder if it's easier to just replace the whole power board?

Do you mean on the output FROM the transformer? If not, what's between the 240v point and the point where you're getting zero?0

I've not taken the board out or anything. Ther mains plug terminates on a board. I think there's a relay, capacitors, a small transformer, a fuse etc. There is a plug which goes to a massive tranformer. There is no voltage on that plug0

On some occasions photos really help, however this may not be one of those occasions.0 -

I'm happy to take photos if it does help but the 'small transformer' is mounted on the board, the 'massive transformer' is too heavy for that and is 4 or 5"across0

The manual is available for free from http://www.eserviceinfo.com, its a multipart download.
However, unless you are experienced, this amp may be beyound a diy repair. the transformer on the small board powers logic on the function board amp, if its not happy for many reasons it will not allow the relay to pull in to power the main transformer.
Download the manual and make your own decision based on your competence. At times any combination of my spelling, grammar or punctuation may be incorrect. Please do not pick me up for this as, after all, it is only an internet forum.0
