PETA's Angel for Animals - Help a Chained Dog

Now I'm aware it's USA but I imagine UK can still donate via paypal etc. Also, can we please not have this as a PETA bashing thread. This is just something good they're trying to do for animals that cannot be taken away from their neglectful owners.

"Dogs without protection from the elements outside suffer terribly during the winter. By becoming a PETA "Angels for Animals" sponsor, you can change the life of a dog trapped at the end of a chain or in a tiny pen without adequate shelter from winter's chill. Your sponsorship gift today can provide a sturdy new doghouse to a "backyard dog" struggling to survive long days and nights outside in the cold snow and rain this winter.

PETA builds hundreds of rugged doghouses and delivers them to lonely dogs whose guardians won't relinquish the animals or let them inside. Our doghouses are made to last, so your sponsorship today will provide a dog with shelter from snow, wind, rain, and summer heat for years to come."

If the owners are that uncaring they will probably sell the item or use it for some other kind of storage. Waste of money imo, sticking plaster and gaping wound come to mind.

I'm with poet on this, it's a complete waste of time and money. Education is the only way to help.

Part of the program involves education and attempting to persuade owners to let the dogs in the house. They also go back and check on the dogs according to the site. So if all true hardly a waste of money.

Or change the law to remove these dogs
whose guardians won't relinquish the animals or let them inside.
    from their so-called 'guardians'.

Ive paid for one of these dog huts on several occasions over the years. Not a waste of time. Peta make regular visits to go back and see how these dogs are and they also do educate. It could be the difference between life and death for some of these dogs.

And Im not the biggest fan of peta either, but I'll still give to help dogs in these conditions.

Law is such in some of these areas that the dogs cant be removed.

How do you know the money you donate is actually helping animals rather than supporting their propaganda? They're no better than the RSPCA.

as much as I loathe animal cruelty, I would never support PETA and it's disgusting ways it treats both humans and animals, They do not love animals, they murder them
  • So much for asking it not to turn into a PETA bashing thread.

Pollycat, I know, I should've put guardians like you did. Just the word I thought of at the time.

And Cham, there is nothing wrong with ARA's. Also I'd say they're more welfarists than ARA.

I agree that there is nothing wrong with animal rights activists but I wouldn't call PETA activists or welfarists I call them extremists and they do more damage and harm to animal welfare than they do good. Nothing makes me cringe more than seeing their latest campaign and the delusionists that jump on the support bandwagon without knowing anything about the "welfare issue" itself.

Like a couple of years ago when they targeted sheep farmers in Australia for cruelly docking tails which lead to boycotts and vigilante action against a large number of innocent people. The video footage shown as proof was several years old and of one particular farm that had already been dealt with by the authorities.
