Inheritance from father

Apologies if this is the wrong forum, but I didn't really know where to post...
My father fled the UK around 10 years ago and is living somewhere in SE Asia, no-one in my family has spoken to him in years. He has failed to pay any child maintenance/support to any of us 3 kids in the UK, and my mum has unsuccessfully tried to track him down and take him through the courts, as he's no longer in the country.
We recently found out that his father (still living in the UK) has a terminal illness, and is likely to leave around £1.2 million to his only child. But my father is an alcoholic, wasting all his money on booze and girls throughout SE Asia, and this money will just further support his lifestyle.
As his father's will would be dealt with from his solicitor in the UK, is there anyway we can intervene and claw back the 10+ years of child maintenance that he's failed to pay? Or are we powerless to stop all the money going to him (in which case we'll never hear from him again and he won't pay a penny to us).
Thanks for any advice

Sorry, but there is no us.
Any maintenance would have been paid to your mother for yours and your siblings up keep.
How old are you all.
And I wouldn't have thought your mother could intervene and claim money befoe its given to your father. Who you don't even know is alive.
I would do nothing at the moment, the poor man isn't even dead yetmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Well the obv solution would be to approach the grandfather, and ask him to leave some money to your mother or the 3 of you children that would equal what he should have paid over the years? Does the grandfather care to know you and your siblings? Does he know his son is a !!!!less addict likely to p*ss away the money?
Apart from that, you could instruct a solicitor to file a claim on the money set aside for your father during probate while the money is still in the UK?0
